Here a just a few of the fellowship activities offered at WIllowbrook Church in Sun City, Arizona
Have you ever wanted to learn to knit or crochet, or do you have these skills and are willing to teach someone else how to knit or crochet? Then we invite you to be part of the KrisKrafters. The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month in Wilson Fellowship Hall at 9:00 a.m. For those that would like to take more time to work on projects or learn a new skill the group stays for an after lunch session also. Bring your lunch and join in the fun!
For those who want to keep active in every way, Willowbrook offers Youthful Seniors, an organization aimed at increasing church membership and encouraging new people into our fellowship.
The vibrant group of young-at-heart seniors enjoys special fellowship at monthly meetings, with programs selected each year by those attending its October meeting. Activities have included Diamondbacks games, concerts, theater performances, Super Bowl parties, games, cards and occasional day-trips to an Arizona attraction.
Its mission project is EI Mirage Elementary School. The organization is ideal for seniors who may still have other daytime commitments, but all are welcome!
Art & Soul (Coloring for Adults)
join this group every Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 11:00 as they relax and color (and visit and share). Coloring for Adults has become a popular activity around the country and offers stress-reducing coloring and conversation. All materials are provided.
Writing Your Own Story
Who Am I? There are more than 383 positive adjectives that can be used to describe ourselves and characters in our families and personal stories.
How Am I? There are over 155 feelings that we have experienced in the pages of our stories in individual books.
Join us and reminisce about “The Good Old Days.” The “Writing Your Own Story” class meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays each month (October-April) from 2-4 p.m. in the Conference Room. This is an open ended class, join in at your leisure. For more information contact the church office.
In a congregation of over 800 members it is easy for new and old members alike, to feel “lost in the crowd.” Not at Willowbrook.
A unique entity called fellowship groups encourages small “groups” of Willowbrookers with common interests to get together. A special benefit is providing a ready association of new members with those who have been at Willowbrook for years. There are numerous active groups in the communities served by our church. The purpose of the groups is defined as “to provide fellowship, welcome new members, support one another in emergencies, establish communication, and provide an avenue for expression of ideas.”
Each group plans special events. There can be social activities—dining out, gathering for picnics or potlucks, going to a concert or play, or attending special church events together. Some of the groups have organized their own outreach projects aimed at caring for those in need, becoming another element in this mission-oriented church.
The Metho Travelers is a group comprised of several Sun City United Methodist churches who organize various trips and events for the benefit of church members and friends. Trips are planned with the senior age group in mind. For more information visit the Metho travelers website: http://methotravelers.org/
