Rev. Kennedy shares the symbolism of a candy cane being a shepherd’s crook. He explains how Jesus is our Good Shepherd and the sheep follow the shepherd and know his/her voice even when there are other voices calling out. It is important that we follow our Good Shepherd and listen for His voice. God speaks to us through the Good Shepherd. Using scripture passages from Ezekiel and Micah who pointed out the need for a Good Shepherd who actually cares for his sheep. These prophets point out the need for a caring Shepherd who will come in Bethlehem. Our thoughts at Christmas need to be about our Shepherd, our Savior, Emmanuel; God with us.
