United Women of Faith (UWF)
United Methodist Women has changed its name to United Women of Faith. This exciting change reflects the commitment to even greater inclusivity, action and impact. We are women of passion and power united by God’s love in our mission to uplift women, children and youth. Let’s stand together to continue to put love into action.
United Women of Faith provides opportunities and resources to grow spiritually, become more deeply rooted in Christ, and put faith into action. We are dedicated to learning, caring and sharing the message of Jesus Christ. There is a Unit meeting once a month during most of the year and there are four circles which are smaller groups that meet additionally once a month. Circles have programs, fellowship, and may work on mission projects. Unit meetings have been the third Monday of each month except for June, July and August. All women of Willowbrook are invited to participate in a circle and/or the unit meeting. For times of individual circles please contact the church office and the UMW officers will contact interested parties.
There is an excellent reading program which many women participate in and many of the books are located in the church library.
In February the women of Willowbrook did a program on Sugar & Spice. For the sugar portion, they packaged cookies to be delivered to at-home members and others who are not able to be out. For the spice portion, they collected several hundred containers of spices to be delivered to the Valley View food bank in Sun City and Arizona State University’s Pitchfork Pantry through the Wesley Foundation at Tempe First UMC.
The Promise of Flowers was the theme of our March Retreat at the Lake Pleasant recreational center. Pastor Ruth Blum led a day filled with spirituality, fun and fellowship.
On April 18, the Unit meeting was a Spring Salad luncheon open to all women of the church and guests. A basket raffle proceeds were donated to a local mission. We also collected children’s books for Wesley Center/Golden Gate.

May is a special time. We have our Guest Meeting inviting husbands, spouses and anyone interested. It will be at 5 p.m. and will host the Matthew 25 group. The group is coming from Red Mountain UMC and will tell us about their prison ministry. It is also Pie Night featuring delicious pies.
The Women meet for lunch during the summer months at local restaurants. Call the church office for details.
Unit meetings will resume in September with a program that has been important to the UWF which is the Criminalization of Black youth. October unit meeting will recognize the month as World Wide communion is observed with a program on the importance of bread in the life of the church and all cultures. We look forward to the World Thank Offering in November with a Thanksgiving-style potluck. And of course our Annual Christmas Tea will have a special program.
Purpose: UNITED WOMEN OF FAITH SHALL BE A COMMUNITY OF WOMEN WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO KNOW GOD AND TO EXPERIENCE FREEDOM AS WHOLE PERSONS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST; TO DEVELOP A CREATIVE, SUPPORTIVE FELLOWSHIP AND TO EXPAND CONCEPTS OF MISSION THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN THE GLOBAL MINISTRIES OF THE CHURCH.
