Willowbrook Church in Sun City is starting to livestream their services each week. We are also posting a selection of devotional videos from our older channel. Welcome to Willowbrook Church in Sun City AZ where we agree with the historic doctrines of the Christian faith regarding God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the role of the church in the world and more. We have a strong belief in the Bible as our primary guide and rule for life. Willowbrook is known for our emphasis on a personal faith which leads us to active participation in our communities and world. If you would like to know more about what it means to follow Christ, please call 623-974-5637 and ask to speak with one of our pastors.

Pause and Pray before Post! Social Media is a great tool for sharing with others what is happening in our life. It allows us to share with many people at the same time. It can be a very positive tool for communication. It can also be a vicious tool used to accuse or attack. Re-read and pray prior to sending the post, will others be built up or torn down?
As we dream of possibilities for the future, let us remember several unfulfilled dreams from the past. Dreams from Elijah, from Moses, from Jesus, from Martin Luther King Jr. What can I do? What can YOU do to help some of these dreams come closer to being fulfilled? We need to walk together and believe together and work together because we believe in God. Let's dream holy dreams and walk together with God.
NOTE: Pastor Jon forgets to turn on mic at the very beginning. Have patience, he does turn it on. Pastor Jon Ierley shares when he first retired he thought now I can do anything I want. He soon discovered even in freedom there are boundaries; finances, health, commitments to others. There are many things going on that tug at our time and attention. It is important that we follow the Lord's advice in Psalms 46:10. "Be still, and know that I am God."

Calling attention to the fact we are living in complex and troubled times, we are reminded in Psalms 46:1 that "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." We need to cling to that promise and when distractions surround us follow the example of Martin Luther and sing this Psalm. It was what inspired him to write A Mighty Fortress is our God.
As we look back at the baptism of Christ we explore the history of baptism. We also consider what baptism means for us today. During this service, Pastor Lois will lead us in a meaningful time of remembering our own baptism
How do we treat the downtrodden? With respect or disdain? God revealed His Son first to the Shepherds who were the lowest of low in social class in those days.
Do angels have soft sweet voices or loud booming voices? One historian is convinced most times angels have firm voices to issue the command, "Get up! Hurry!" Joseph was a man of strong beliefs. At first he was going to quietly dismiss Mary but an angel assured him she was telling the truth. Joseph demonstrated great obedience in taking Mary as his wife and he continued to be obedient. Obedience is the supreme test of faith in God and reverence for God.

Ezra Taft Benson said, "When obedience ceases to be an irritant and becomes our quest, in that moment God will endow us with power." For Joseph obedience was not limiting, but liberating. That is still true for us. Joseph was a spiritual, faithful man of integrity. He was to be protector, provider and teacher for God's Son. His assurance, strength and leadership skills helped him make split-second decisions when he was presented with multiple visits from angels in dreams. He had to move quickly. We need to follow Joseph's example when God speaks to us: Be Still, Listen, Follow. God will provide answers.
We welcome the new year with great enthusiasm. How enthusiastic are we about sharing Jesus with the world or our neighbor? God loves you! Share that love!
In a moving service, Rev. Ruth Blum reminds us that sometimes we get so busy at Christmas time and so caught up in the busyness and the noise that we do not notice or welcome Jesus into our hearts and our celebration. Have you forgotten to welcome the one whose birthday we are celebrating? Do we welcome Jesus with singing and praise or do we ignore Him during the party. How will you respond to Jesus? Have you accepted the gift of Jesus into your heart?
