The worship service opened with a a procession of wise men bringing gifts for the baby. Rev. Gary Kennedy asked, “What gift do YOU bring to Jesus?”

The wise men (Magi) had followed a star that moved across the sky to lead them to the King of the Jews. They probably thought they were heading to a palace. The king of Rome felt threatened. The clergy of that day felt threatened by the coming of a King of the Jews. They had not shared the story of a coming Messiah. They had ignored the teachings in the scrolls.

The wise men came to pay homage to the new king. When we come to church it should also be to pay homage to Christ. Jesus deserves our worship and praise. Do we give that to Him? Freely we have received from Jesus at great cost to Him. What gift do we bring to Him in return. He wants our love, our time, our relationship with Him. What can we bring to Jesus? We can bring ourselves.
