Many people look at the Bible and the commandments of God as too many rules that are hard to live by. We can be discouraged by Matthew 5:17 which makes it look like it is impossible to fulfill God’s law. But we know we have been forgiven through Christ’s death and resurrection. Our job is to accept His sacrifice. Then we can follow Him and love as God loves. Love is . . . God. God is . . . Love. God loves everyone. We are to follow his example. “If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus?” (Matthew 5:47; The Message) Pastor Ruth reminds us of the sermon from earlier in Matthew to live the light that absolves darkness and be the salt that enhances each day. When all the peoples of the world and all the nations of the world, and all the races of the world, and all the religious groups of the world learn to want for others all that they want for themselves, there will finally be hope for peace.
